Last year, work-related stress was identified as one of the leading causes of death in the United States. At the same time, health costs per employee have increased by 60 percent over the past decade, and it’s estimated disengaged employees cost American companies as much as $550 billion a year. What role will workplace design play in alleviating people’s suffering? How can companies evolve to reinvigorate their workforce?

These are questions an award-winning author, and internationally-renowned futurist, Rex Miller, will explore at WorkSpaces, happening October 27-29 in Palm Springs.

Drawing upon insights from his latest book, The Healthy Workplace Nudge, as well as previous titles such as Change Your Space, Change Your Culture, Miller will challenge 70 years of conventional thinking on workplace wellness. Amazingly, his research reveals 95 percent of traditional wellness programs fail to improve health and lower costs. In his presentation, Miller will examine four design strategies and new sports science regarding recovery that can be applied to the workplace.

Having worked in the design and construction industry for over 40 years, Miller now works with clients like Google, Disney, Microsoft, and GoDaddy through his consultancy and organizational performance firm, MindShift. He has won the CoreNet Global Innovators Award, Industry Excellence Award and IFMA’s Award for Excellence and has written five books with Wiley publishing.
